Robotics Program

What is FIRST Tech Challenge?

FIRST Tech Challenge is one of the programs offered by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire young people to become involved in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
FTC provides students with hands-on experience in engineering, coding, problem-solving, and teamwork, while also fostering a competitive and collaborative spirit. The program aims to develop students' skills and interest in STEM fields and prepare them for future careers.

Why TerraED?

TerraEd has mentored competitive FIRST teams for over 10 years with 7 years of FIRST Tech Challenge. TerraEd has several award winning teams including TerraBats, who recently won the NorCal championships. TerraEd's mentoring introduces students to various professional skills including; leadership, team management, and public speaking. Each year TerraEd sends multiple teams to compete in Northern California giving students the opportunity to gain STEM enrichment.

Is it for me?

Hands on building with metal parts.
Advanced design principles and Java programming.
​Official season begins in September and ends in April.
Minimum attendance of 2 meetings per week.
Multiple tournaments each season.
Ages 12-18

Next Steps

TerraEd FTC is application based accepting only students we deem ready for the program.
​Summer training workshop for prospective students.
This allows for potential team members to have all required foundational skills.
