Terra ED has been involved in STEM enrichment in San Jose for over 10 years. With years of experience teaching young kids, Terra ED has the knowledge to help students embrace various topics. Terra ED's goal is to provide comprehensive classes for students of all ages. Each class is tailored to suit students as they learn to love STEM. Terra ED instructors have been coaching and training various students and have mentored students in Odyssey of the Mind, FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and The Tech Challenge by the Tech Museum.
How is Terra ED different from other organizations?
Terra ED understands what kids need in order to understand complex topics. Our mentors have had first hand experience in every topic taught providing unique instruction that students will enjoy. If your goal is for your student to actually learn while enjoying STEM, then Terra ED is right for you.
I'm interested in a program but it's currently full or unavailable.
Annual programs such as the Summer Robotics Camp are only offered during certain parts of the year. That being said, Terra ED can enroll any interested student early and reserve a spot for them.
Workshop and Camp seats often fill up extremely quick. In case you miss the deadline, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] as we are ready to make accommodations!
Are TerraED classes online or in-person?
All of Terra ED's workshops and camps are in-person to give students the face-to-face instruction that helps them learn best. While running online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we found that students were often disconnected and found it hard to pick up concepts. As STEM instructors, we highly recommend registering for in-person classes for younger students.
Online classes are however available for specific workshops including Scratch Programming and Computer-Aided Design.
How will I know what my child learned?
Daily updates are sent out each evening for multi-day workshops. Towards the end of each workshop a comprehensive list of skills your student has learned will be sent out. During the session, students are frequently encouraged to discuss with their peers and review topics.
Do you offer make-up sessions?
Depending on the program type we do offer make-up sessions. If your student is unable to attend a day, you MUST email [email protected] to notify the instructors of your students absence. Make-Up details will be sent to the original absence email.
The FTC and FLL robotics registration deadline has passed can I still sign up?
Unfortunately signing up after the deadline is not permitted. Students who have registered on time will begin meetings and orientations the day after the deadline. We do have alternatives for FTC students who missed the deadline but still would like to continue. If interested, email [email protected] with the subject line "FTC - Student Name."
My child is interested but I don't know what to sign up for.
We are always happy to help. Send us an email at [email protected] with your questions or concerns and we can advise the best program based on your childs age and past experience!
Group vs. Private Lessons
Group
Student-to-Instructor ratio typically 5-1
Peer based learning frequent discussions
Team building and work environment simulations
Great for a group of friends ready to learn STEM skills
Private
Flexible to match students speed and interests
Ensures thorough understanding of concepts
Great for younger students who want a headstart into robotics
Note: Both group and private sessions are available for each program/workshop
